Certificate of Title Bonds

The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) may require a Certificate of Title Surety bond when the vehicle title is lost or not available. If required, the DOT will send you a letter with the required bond amount and value of the vehicle. The bonding company will need a copy of this letter to process your request. The premium or fee is based on the bond amount required. The bond is guaranteed for three (3) years.
